Most people have never heard of it, but the people who do like to keep it that way, because part of what makes it so great is how uninhabited it is. Anna Maria Island is a small island off the west coast of Florida, just about an hour South of Tampa. Anna Maria is a bit of paradise that we just had to share with you (but don’t tell too many people;)
Anna Maria has some of the most beautiful beaches in Florida. With beautiful, fine, white sand and clear, warm aqua water. The perfect place to swim and relax in your Sauipe suit;) And don’t forget to come to watch the sunsets, which are always stunning…
If you want a bite to eat but don’t want to tear yourself away from the beach (or change out of your swimsuit), stop by The Sandbar, a fun restaurant right on the beach with great food and live entertainment.
Anna Maria has a sweet, charming island feel about it everywhere you look. Their main street, Pine Avenue, has adorable shops and cafes that are built to look like beach houses, keeping the old-town feel… and most of them are constructed environmentally responsible and energy efficient, built to withstand time and nature (especially hurricanes, which are quite common in Florida). Everything is painted in bright and colorful hues, just so cute! From vintage clothes to shabby-chic furniture, art galleries to specialty olive oil – you can an afternoon browsing around Pine Street, Anna Maria. For more info on Pine Ave’s restoration initiative and shopping/living, visit pineavenueinfo.com.
One of our fave shops on Pine Ave is a vintage store in the Relish Marketplace… with vintage and new clothes, jewelry, home goods, gifts in more, we could get lost in there forever!
The best way to get around any island is a bike, the perfect place to rent one is Beach Bums, right on Pine Ave. They have regular bikes, beach cruisers, double bikes and fun, fours eater family bikes. They also have all sorts of fun for the beach, like kayaks, surf boards, stand-up paddle boards, boats and more.
There are many adorable hotels/motels or beach cottages to stay in on Anna Maria, but one of the best is Sand ‘N Sea Beach Flats. Beautiful, affordable condo rentals with a pool and just a few steps to the beach (and not the crowded, public beach, a beach for residents of the area).
Our Marketing Director, Lane, having a beautiful day on Anna Maria Island…. <3 SAUIPE

Fall is coming quickly (we can’t believe it either!), is your wardrobe ready?? We are obsessed with some of the new fall trends, here are some of our faves, with splurge & save options (so you can look fall-fab on any budget!)…
Printed, knit dresses are really hot for fall… find one in your fave colors (try one with navy blue, “fall’s new neutral”), and with long sleeves for those chilly fall nights. Pair with a simple flat shoe and accessories for daytime, or with a neutral heel and a chunky necklace for a night out.
We just love this long sleeve, red, grey & navy animal-spired print dress from Gryphon, available at bloomingdales.com, $370
Here’s a similar look for less… The “Knitted Tile Jacquard” navy and white dress from TopShop.com, only $90
A bold trend we’re seeing all over the place is “borrowed from the boys” menswear-inspired looks… our fave, the fitted tuxedo jacket. Perfect to throw on over anything from a fitted dress to jeans – taking your look from simple to fierce.
Our splurge pick is this black tuxedo jacket with gold lapels from Rag & Bone at Nordstrom.com, $595
Too much? Don’t worry, we found this fabulous “save” jacket that will look just as hot… Tahari by ASL Tuxedo Blazer, available at Macys.com, only $139
A must-have for fall that we can’t wait to get… the statement handbag! We adore anything in a snake print, and since it’s fall we’d go for a darker color palette.
Our splurge pick is this one from MK, we love the gold chain and stud detailing, adds some edge. Middleton Hobo from MICHAEL by Michael Kors, available at Nordstrom.com, $448
Not sure if you want to commit that kind of cash to this trend? Have no fear, we found a very similar and just as stylish, less expensive statement bag from Steven by Steve Madden, The “Sugar” Tote, available at Nordstrom.com, only $98
The next fall trend we’re sure you’ll live in this season… a comfy, chunky knit pullover sweater. Try one with colored jeans and a white collared shirt underneath, or with leggings and a printed skirt (you can wear it with a cute floral or striped skirt from your spring/summer wardrobe!)…
Our splurge pick is this heather grey “Larue Chunky Melange” sweater by Velvet by Graham & Spencer, available at Piperlime.com, $216
We think we actually like our “save” pick even better, so soft and sweet… rustic-colored “Librarian Pullover” by Threads for Thought, available at Piperlime.com, only $89
What’s the hottest COLOR trend for fall? It’s “Oxblood” or some call it “Chianti” (maybe it sounds less violent;).. a dark red/brownish/burgundy color. Here’s a few ideas on how to add some of fall’s fiercest color to your autumn closet, a mix of splurge and save…
Shoes is probably the easiest way to go on this trend… try a pair of oxblood with a black dress or suit (and maybe add in an oxblood handbag or belt to tie in the color).
These ones from Ann Taylor are ah-mazing. We just love the texture and color-blocking going on here (yes, color-blocking is still going strong!) These hot pumps also come in navy (the other hottest color for fall, trendsetters calling it “fall’s neutral hue”). Ann Taylor “Delaney Haircalf Stacked Platform Pumps,” at AnnTaylor.com, $228
The colored-jean trend from Spring is still going for fall, but in darker hues, even in oxblood. We love these basic skinny jeans from Aqua Denim, available at Bloomingdales.com, only $68
Leather is another hot trend for fall, and we are lusting over this oxblood Leather Mini Pencil Skirt from Alexander McQueen, available at Saks.com, $925
Want an easy, inexpensive way to add oxblood to any outfit? Try a printed scarf… we love this one by River Island, Scandi Print Long Scarf, available at ASOS.com, only $31
And, even though summer is coming to an end, you still need a fabulous fall swimsuit (for, you know, hot tubs, spas, vacations, etc;)… we’d go with a classic black suit, or a dark jewel tone for fall.
Here’s our black bikini and one piece suggestions for fall… make sure to use code HALFOFF for 50% OFF these suits and the rest of our 2012 collection at www.shopsauipe.com. Kim bandeau bikini, $172 ($86 with code HALFOFF) and Desiree one piece in black, $175 ($87.50 with code HALFOFF).
Prefer color for your fall suit? We pick our dark purple Montego Bay triangle string bikini with gold grommets at www.shopsauipe.com, was $160, now only $80
And, last but not least, don’t forget about your nails… they’re very important;) For fall, you’ll be seeing a lot of hues, from dark purples and reds (oxblood too!), as well as neutrals… our nail color crush right now is a shiny/metallic green… we like Nicole by OPI’s “Mer-Maid for Each Other,” available at Target.com, $7
Have fun creating your new fall looks… and we’d love to hear what your fave fall trends are!!
Click the image below, which will take you to the contest on our fb page (make sure to “like” the page too!)… Hurry, contest ends tomorrow at noon PDT!

Happy Labor Day! Have a safe and fun weekend!
Hello, Lane again (Sauipe Marketing Director)… I had an amaze-balls (Olympic pun intended;) time in London last week and wanted to share my experience with you all…
The city was BUZZING with excitement over the games and there was patriotism everywhere you looked. Of course, there was a lot of TEAM GB fans since the Olympics are on their land this year, but everywhere you looked there were flags and attire from all over the world… which was a site to see and created an incredible atmosphere that I’d never experienced before (why can’t the world always get along like this??). The city was plastered with the Olympic rings, world flags, the London 2012 logo and Wenlocks (the London 2012 mascot)… such an odd looking creature, I have to say, but fun nonetheless.
(Tower Bridge, London with Olympic rings)
(London 2012 logo & Wenlock mascot)
My first day of Olympic events was on Monday, Aug 30 and both events were at the Olympic park. The park was enormous, with various arenas, food stands, viewing screens, and everyone’s favorite, the London 2012 Megashop (with tons of Olympic merchandise, of course). The park was actually quite nice, with a river that ran through the middle and large screens set up in parks where you could sit and watch the televised events between the live events you wrere going to. My first event was Men’s Field Hockey, and my first thought was wow, that’s a bright field (haha)… it’s a rather bright blue, and all the décor around is bright pink (as I’m sure you’ve seen, the color scheme for all the London 2012 décor is brights; pink, blue, orange, purple – they must have read our blog post entitled “Brights are right for Spring and Summer!” The match I saw was Korea vs. New Zealand, and was a lot of fun, but not that exciting of a game (I have to admit that field hockey isn’t really my cup of tea (lol), but the Olympic experience is defintiely something special, no matter what event).
Next was Women’s Water Polo… wow, what an increible sport to watch. I hadn’t before, and I was shocked to see how aggressive the game is… the girls basically drown each other in order to keep the ball away, and they kick each other under the water (we weren’t sure what the rules about all of that were, but they whistled was blown a lot, but they did it anwyay). The two matches we saw were both quite exciting, the first was GB vs. Russia, and being that I was not only with Brittish friends (I’m Canadian, but live in the US, in case you were wondering), but in an areana filled with GB fans, it made for a fantastic atmosphere. The Russian team won (7-6), and they were defintiely the most aggressive team we saw. The second match was USA vs. Hungary, and I had a fantastic time routing for my home team, and they won! The best part was whenever they would show the footage from the underwater cameras (they really should have showed it more), we just couldn’t believe how rough the players got, they basically wrestle each other underwater. And, of course, I was checking out their swimwear… basic navy blue one pieces (that rode up their bums quite a lot, haha)… I suppose they have to wear them, they all had the same, but I think it would have been nice to see more varities of colors and shapes. Then again, I know it’s not a fashion show.
My third Olympic event was on Friday, August 5th, Beach Volleyball, my fave! The arena was at The Horse Guards Parade, and the view from our seats was absolutely stunning…
The photo doesn’t really do it justice, but I was in complete awe of the beautiful buildings from up that high, just mesmorizing… I probably looked around almost as much as I watched the game. The mood in the beach volleyball arena was quite different than at the other events, it was almost like being at a beach party (too bad I didn’t have a Sauipe bikini with me! Haha). The announcer had the crowd doing all sorts of cheers and the wave, and they had swimwear-clad dancers performing during breaks. Speaking of, they had very colorful, adorable, retro suits… some reminded me of suits from our current as well as our 2013 Sauipe collection, whoever styled the dancers have great taste.
And, of course, the matches themselves were fun too… we saw the Women’s match first, USA (go USA!) vs. Switzerland, and USA won… both teams were very good, it was a close match. I did, however, prefer Switzerland’s swimsuits (they were bright pink bikinis), USA’s were cute as well, but just plain white sporty bikinis (although white swimwear is very in for 2013, so they’re right on trend;). The seconed match was Men’s, USA vs. Italy (this time Italy won, which was a surprise because the USA team were champions). I was, though, disapointed to see that the male volleyball players wore tank tops… I thought they’d be playing shirtless (seems only fair since the women play in bikinis).
My last event was on Saturday night, Aug 4th, Men’s Soccer (or Football, as the Europeans call it). It was at Wembly stadium, a massively enourmous venue… and it was Mexico vs. Senegal. It was a very odd match, both teams made quite a lot of mistakes and should have gotten many goals that they fubbed up (as well as got goals that should have been blocked)… but the atmosphrere was really fun, there were many Mexico supportors, all dressed up in Mexican attire (I even saw some little girls in sombreos and mustaches, haha). Mexico won after going in to overtime and as we left there was quite excitement over the win!
Even though GB wasn’t playing in this match, there was GB pride at this and all the events, of course…
My London 2012 experience was something I will remember forever… if you have never been to an Olympics before, I definitely recommend it. Rio 2016, anyone? Unfortunately I didn’t get to see any Brazilian teams play, but it’s very exciting that the Olympics will be in Brazil next time! Maybe the beach volleyball and water polo players could wear SAUIPE suits in Rio, being that we’re a Brazilian brand and all.
Hello friends! It’s Lane here, Sauipe’s Marketing Director and I’m abroad in England right now, just thought I would bring you here with me… If you haven’t already been, England should definitely be on your travel list! And not just London, there’s a lot to explore in the country as a whole ( it’s a rather small country so it’s easy to see a lot in a short visit!). There are many places to see, but here’s a few of my faves that I’ve been to this trip…
Cowes: a stunning, sailing village that sits on the coast of the breathtaking Isle of Wight (an Island off the South of England), with adorable little shops and cafes down the main street and beautiful sail boats and yachts everywhere you look. Have a seat at Prince’s Green (also known as “The Green”), a large grassy lawn on the shore, and watch the sailing races, or rent a motor boat to get a closer look (which is what we did… it was a beautifully sunny day, perfect for a boat ride! Just not quite hot enough for bikinis;) ). Then once you’ve worked up an appetite from all the sailing excitement, stop for a bite to eat at one of the many adorable cafes and pubs in the village and pop into a few shops… we had a lovely time wandering around Cowes. You only can get to the Isle of Wight on a boat or plane, there is no bridge… we came in by helicopter (yes, very exciting!).
Gazing over the beautiful English country side, on our way to Cowes.
Watching a sailing race from our dingy… apparently these three sail boats are some of the largest racing sailboat yachts in the world! This week a famous sailing race is going on called “Cowes Week.”
Cute streets with sweet little shops, perfect for finding unique gifts and sailing attire galore.
Need more convincing to visit Cowes? Check out these 10 reasons to visit Cowes in 2012;) : www.cowes.co.uk
Cambridge: Home to the very prestigious, University of Cambridge… a cool, quirky university town with lots of history. School was out (summer holidays), so we were able to go into some of the colleges, as well as the University Chapel… every building was so stunning, so very old, such amazing architecture. Take a walk on the cobblestone streets, wander through the markets and listen to street musicians (students trying make some money to pay their tuition, perhaps?), and make sure to go punting (what is that? Don’t worry, I didn’t know either). A punt is the British version of a gondola… a wooden boat that is maneuvered and propelled by a punter, standing on the back with a large pole that you push into the riverbed. We opted to go on a tour (so someone else does the steering, we just sat comfortably in the boat), instead of trying to do it on our own (although it was quite entertaining to watch other “amateurs” try punting on their own, very often crashing into other boats and nearly falling overboard).
Walking the stress of Cambridge… the University buildings and chapel.
A market in the town square, and street musicians sending sweet music through the air.
A courtyard in front of King’s college (one of the many colleges that make up the University of Cambridge). I had to restrain myself from doing cartwheels in this beautiful lawn (there were signs everywhere saying “keep off the grass!”).
Punts punting down the River Cam, which runs alongside of the campus.
Last but not least, London! Probably my favorite city in the world… old meets new, so much to see and do. From shopping, to dining, to theater, museums and history everywhere you look… London is a fantastic city with something for everyone. Today is the start of the 2012 Olympics, taking place in London this year… so right now the city is buzzing, it’s very busy and everyone is very excited for the games! I will be going to a few of the events (yay!), Beach Volleyball, Field Hockey, Water Polo and Men’s Soccer (or Football, as they call it here;) starting this Monday… I’ll write another post after it’s all over to let you know what it was like!
The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben on the River Thames in London.
Oxford Street adorned with international flags for the Olympics. Oxford Street has AMAZING shopping by the way… make sure you don’t miss it when you go there. And all the buildings are a sight to see, so old and majestic.
The Olympic torch going down Oxford Street on a red London bus!
The only negative about my trip so far is that I haven’t gotten to wear any of my many Sauipe bikinis, haha… but sometimes it’s nice to go on a vacation that is more about the culture (and shopping of course) than getting a tan;)
Swimwear, lingerie, Lenceria Boutique and a whole lot of laughter. That’s what went down at the cute little boutique near Sunset Plaza in West Hollywood during last night’s trunk show. Lenceria, meaning lingerie, is the name of the cozy shop that now carries our Sauipe collection. Aside from being ecstatic about Sauipe’s new home, we’re obsessed with the caretaker, Juliana and her love for Brazilian and Columbian culture. With our Brazilian bond already beginning we decided to host a trunk show. However, this wasn’t your typical trunk show because Lenceria boutique isn’t your typical store. When you walk in the door it’s as if you’re walking into Juliana’s closet itself! There are dainty little undies hung on clothespins in the window and undergarments so intently organized it seems everything has its place. The swimwear selection is diverse and every piece has its own story. Even with special attention to Sauipe, the energy didn’t feel like a large event but rather a night in with girlfriends. Drinking wine, sharing stories and lusting over fashionable swimwear and lingerie. We are so excited to have Sauipe in such a great space but more importantly, need another excuse to go back for girls’ time with Juliana!
Lencería Boutique is located at:

We’re seeing bright colors in fashion everywhere, and we just love it! Wearing a bright color lifts your mood and makes you stand out! Here’s a few of our picks that you can easily add into your spring/summer wardrobe…
For a night out, try on a bright pink dress… we adore this one from Rebecca Minkoff…
…pair the dress with simple accessories and neutral shoes for a stunning look.
Nothing says Spring like a bright handbag… we love a green bag, goes with a lot more than you’d think! This one from Marc by Marc Jacobs is fab, it’s small and has a removable shoulder strap, perfect for going from day to night!
Another great way to add a pop of color is shoes! These bright red wedge sandals from Aldo are perfect…
Want to try out a bright, but a bit afraid? Try something with a print or just a pop of a neon color, instead of all-over color. Like this yellow and grey striped maxi dress from Arden B…
Colored denim is everywhere these days, and we think it looks chic in bright blue, like these Paige Denim jeans… pair them with a classic white tee and printed shoes, or a printed top and a nude shoe…
One of our favorite ways to add a bright to an outfit is sunglasses… these purple ones from Ray Ban are HOT…
Last, but certainly not least, is our BRIGHT pick for swimwear… our Chloe bikini in our “Chillies” print, featuring bright and light shades of orange, and gold hardware accents, sure to attract some attention at the pool;)
